Correction / Clarification — City Council Data Center Vote

Published: February 25, 2026

A previous version of the Lawton Town Crier report on the February 24, 2026 Lawton City Council meeting contained an error in the recorded votes on the data center zoning item.

The correct vote was 5–3, with Councilmember Alan Hampton voting NO and Councilmember Tarron Epps voting YES.

The ordinance, as amended, allows data centers up to 2 megawatts (reduced from 5 megawatts) within the I-1 Restricted Manufacturing & Warehouse zoning classification.

An earlier version of this report also used the phrase “I-1 district.” I-1 refers to a zoning classification, specifically the City’s I-1 Restricted Manufacturing & Warehouse designation. This clarification does not change the substance of the report.

The Lawton Town Crier regrets the error and has updated the original report to reflect the correct information.
