Taron Epps Appointed as Ward 2 City Councilman

The Lawton City Council has appointed Taron Epps as the new representative for Ward 2. After conducting interviews during a special meeting on August 26, 2025, the council voted 6–0 after executive session to appoint him to the seat that has been vacant. Mr. Warren, Ward 8, was not in attendance.

Epps brings a strong background in leadership and service to the role. A retired Field Artillery officer, he served his country with distinction before transitioning to civilian life. He is also a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where he built the foundation for his professional and community involvement.

Originally from New York, Epps has made Lawton his home and is committed to representing the residents of Ward 2 with integrity, dedication, and a focus on addressing community needs.

As he begins his tenure on the council, Epps is expected to bring both military discipline and community-minded leadership to the challenges and opportunities facing Lawton. He starts his term on September 9th.
